For this activity, we were to write another paper in APA format because many members of the class had issues the last time. I got full credit on my paper last time, so this was just a review for me. We had to go to the
NCES website and
download a spreadsheet with the 8th grade math scores for the United States in 2011. Then we were to compare our state (WV) with the other US jurisdictions. We aren't doing so well (as you will see in my paper). We had to create a scatter plot of all the jurisdictions. Then we had to do a t-test on males vs females in the US to see if there was a significant difference between the genders. There was not. We had to report this in words and in a table. Below is my paper uploaded in a google doc. Once again the format got messed up so I will post pictures of my scatter plot and table.

This activity fits ISTE NETS T standard number 5. Being able to conduct and interpret research shows professional growth and learning. It advances our understanding of our field.
