Snipping Tool

Now I'm pissed because I already did this once and when I published it all that showed up was the title and a link that didn't work. So here goes attempt number two.

Today we were assigned to locate the snipping tool on our computers and use it to create a screen shot of something we have learned or something we could use to teach. I have always wondered how people create screen shots and now I know how. I really like this tool. To get started you have to go to the start menu. In the search box you type "snipping tool". Right click the link and create a shortcut on your desk top. When I tried to open it the first time, I got a warning box that said the tool was not working at this time. I got nervous. I restarted my computer and tried again. It worked! If you are interested in this then you can see a video here. I created a screen shot of the bibliography section of Word 2007. I have found that students do not know about this feature. They tend to freak out when they have to have a bibliography and citations. I would throw this screen shot up on a projector in the computer lab and walk the students through how to use it. I highlighted the tab they need to be on and drew a box around what they should be working with. I would then have them create screen shots of their finished source list so that I can see their progress. Here is my example:

I believe that this activity goes along with standards two and three of the ISTE NETS T standards. It goes along with number two because I am having the students create a bibliography using technology and having them create screen shots to show me their progress. It goes along with number three because I am modeling the technology for them and walking them through it.
