For this assignment, we were given over a week to complete the project. We are creating podcasts on a topic of our choice. I had a little trouble getting started because I couldn't get the example to open at first. I had to try to open it on a different computer to get it to work. My podcast is going to be journey through my music history. We are using a software called Audacity. I've never created a podcast before, but I have had a little experience with trimming songs and giving them fade in/fade out effects in Windows Movie Maker. In Audacity, you can record voice, import audio, trim, create silence, use effects, etc. The tutorial that I used was really informative. It has several short videos that show you how to use certain parts of the program. The tutorial also led me to page where I could download the LAME encoder. This allows you to export your podcast as an MP3 so that you can post it to the internet.
So far, I have downloaded all the software and watched the tutorial videos. I have also used BenderConverter to rip my sound bytes off youtube and convert them to MP3 files. I have 7 tracks in my Audacity project thus far. I have trimmed these 7 sound bytes to the parts that I want and have utilized the fade in/fade out tools. I still have to import and trim a few more sound bytes and then I need to record my comments and trim them/insert silence. Then I can export and post my final project. Hopefully I can finish this today. Wish me luck! =)
